Module 1 Formstorming

Weekly Activity Template

This week’s activity explores formstorming through object selection, modeling, and documentation. Using Cinema 4D, I experimented with simple and complex shapes, learning navigation, editing, and rendering 3d objects.

Project 1

Module 1

For Module 1/Activity 1 I selected everyday objects, photographed them, and recreated their forms in Cinema 4D. I practiced working with simple shapes then editing them by transforming them into polygonal objects. I then tried my best to recreate my initial objects with the colours I chose. This process helped me experiment, learn from mistakes, and document the progression of photographing physical objects to recreating them digitally.

Material Workshop 1

minature 3d glass sculpture, object is made from glass, made in the craft and design (glass) program at sheridan ceramic made 3d shoes, objects are made from clay which is then dried and nailed onto the wall/a board, made in the craft and design (ceramics) program at sheridan multiple materials used to create custom rubber stamps, objects include, rubber, carving tools, paint rollers, metal ink spatulas, coloured ink, made in the craft and design program at sheridan

Material Workshop 2

Wool yarn
Material: natural fibres.
Material state: soft, fibrous, flexible.
Material plasticity: the wool can be stretched, and twisted
Material use: mainly in textile production, crafting, and making clothes. Hand model
Material: molded hand, likely made out of silicone or latex. inside ther model there is a metal wire armature for stability and support.
material state: semi-solid, elastic, soft but firm, and some flexibility.
Material plasticity: compressible and able to be molded under pressure, might return back to original shape. surface mimics realistic hand.
Material use: used for prototyping, anatomical studies, prothetics, industrial designs, or used for display purposes. Wooden block
Material: solid unfinished wood.
Material state: rigid, dense piece of wood cut into a rectangular shape.
Material plasticity: Low plasticity, likely brittle and would splinter under force. can be shaped using tools (drilling, cutting, sanding)
Material use: Model making, carving, contruction, etc.
